Twitter enthusiast and reality TV star Kate Gosselin gets flak for tweeting about how pleased she is with the results of her televised tummy tuck in 2006.

Reality TV personality Kate Gosselin of ?Kate Plus 8? came under fire last week for telling Twitter followers that the tummy tuck she had after giving birth to sextuplets was the ?best thing? she ever did other than having children.
?Get through the first two weeks of pain and yuck,? Kate tweeted to an inquiry about the procedure. ?It?ll be the BEST decision you?ve ever made! How?s that?;).?
She told a mother of two twins, ?I didn?t know u have TWO sets of twins! So tummy tuck is your best friend too! :)?
Her tummy tuck was the ?best thing ever after kids,? she tweeted.
Blogger Kimberly Ripley on Gather.com was outraged.
?Our society of cosmetic quick fixes is crazy enough as it is. People don?t need Kate Gosselin going around telling women they?ll be oh, so happy if they have a tummy tuck. It?s absurd. It?s not reality. It?s unbelievably expensive. And it?s probably not in the best interest of every woman?s health,? she said.
She asked:
?How does that advice make the rest of the moms out there feel? You know, the ones who can?t afford to have cosmetic surgery to trim down their post-baby belly bulge?
?It sort of seems like Kate Gosselin has forgotten all about her rather humble beginnings. Remember when you were a nurse, Kate? Would you have touted cosmetic surgery then? And do you also recall that you didn?t pay for your tummy tuck, but had a doctor volunteer to do the job for free so he could be part of your show??
Blogger Makenzie Greenblatt at the RealSelf.com cosmetic medicine website defended Gosselin, whose new season of ?Kate Plus 8? has just begun.
She said, ?A tummy tuck is a serious decision. True, Kate got hers for free. The average cost is $8,400 ? But plenty of women on RealSelf save their money to gift themselves this life-changing surgery, and they are just as pleased as Kate with their decision.?
Among tummy tuck patients who expressed an opinion of the procedure on the RealSelf.com site, 91 percent said the operation was worthwhile, Greenblatt noted.
