The largest study ever conducted in context of men's health in Britain saw more than 10,000 men participate in the health and fitness programs launched by the Premier League football Clubs.
About ?1.63 million was diverted towards the three-year program, Premier League Health; it is stated to be the first ever program introduced aiming at the men's health at national level. Sixteen football clubs under the Premier League promoted the program.
It is being proposed that the study has a significant impact on the health of working men, with substantial improvement seen in their lifestyle followed and diet included, which ultimately ends up burdening the NHS.
When the program was initiated, several men were categorized as over-weight, heavy drinkers, having unhealthy diet and were least indulged in physical workout, including exercising.
However, when same men were looked upon after three years, a noteworthy difference was noticed in the way they led their life.
Reports subjected by the Centre for Men's Health and Centre for Active Lifestyles at Leeds Metropolitan University, discovered that of the total men engaged in the program, 70% came out with positive results, managing to help their health get better.
The report said, "Premier League football clubs can help men make better lifestyle choices after one health campaign successfully reached thousands".
