What Is The Proper Way To Cut CBU Around Windows - Remodeling ...

I've been reading and searching and still can't figure out the best way to go about putting cbu around my window.

I was wondering what is the proper procedure to cut CBU/Durock around windows opening. The windows size is 3x3 feet, and the wall size is 4'4" wide x 8' tall.

Should I cut 2 3x5 board of CBU in half and install it vertically. This will leave a joint in the middle top/bottom of the windows and no joints in the corners.

Should I install the board horizzontally . This will create a joint on both middle sides of the windows.

Or should just cut the CBU to fit propery on the sides, top, bottom. This will leave joint in the 4 corners.

I'm aware of proper installation of drywall (use a full sheet and fit the windows inside the drywall), but cant find any info on internet for cbu .

Note: the window is in a dry area.
