Study: Facebook drives drug-using teens to use drugs | Kids Those Days

INT. BEDROOM ? DAY

Messy youth?s bedroom. Rock and roll posters line the walls, clothes the floor. TEENAGE SON sits on the bed, shoulders drooped. Irate FATHER points to his son?s FACEBOOK MACHINE.

FATHER
Where did you get this?! Well?!

SON
(crying)
I learned it from watching you, dad!

Add ?partying for all the wrong reasons? to the list of things that kids today screw up. Remember when it was about feeling invincible, experimenting and (if you were lame) peer pressure? It?s not about that anymore.

According to a study that someone actually paid for, kids don?t go to parties to use drugs and have fun. They go so they can post pictures of it to Facebook, which has nothing to do with peer pressure or social dynamics or popular kids pushing the envelope. It?s the technology that?s killing our kids.

Check out LA Weekly for more. As an aside, the survey compared kids who use Facebook to kids who don?t are home schooled in rural 1958.

?Cause why not?
